How can I be referred to Mr D’Urso through my private healthcare insurance?

It is likely that you have been referred to us by another healthcare professional – such as your GP.

Most insurance companies require you to have a referral letter or confirmation by your referring doctor prior to approving your initial consultation with us. It’s always a good idea to check your level of cover with your insurance company before you go ahead with booking your appointment.

But rest assured, we’re recognised by all the big insurance companies like Bupa, Aviva, Alliance, AXA PPP and WPA along with many others.

Do you accept patients without insurance?

We are more than happy to treat patients that are self-funding. We will take a card pre-authorisation to secure the appointment. However, this payment will not leave your account until after your appointment with Mr D’Urso.

How do I know my appointment has definitely been booked?

All appointments are confirmed by a confirmation letter sent via email or post, depending on how you’ve told us you’d like to be contacted.

What happens during my appointment?

Every appointment is different and will be tailored to your needs and the reason for your referral. However, you should expect to discuss your medical history and symptoms with your consultant who will also recommend any possible treatments options at your initial consultation.

It is completely normal to feel anxious during your appointment, but rest assured, Mr D’Urso and his team offers an amazing level of care and will take time to explain everything to you and calm your nerves.

Should I bring anything with me to my appointment?

We strongly recommend that you bring any documents relating to your medical history including any scans that relate to your condition. If you have the chance, you can post or e-mail your paperwork to our office prior to your appointment.

What happens if my consultation discovers something worrying?

If we find a diagnosis that needs to be urgently treated, we will ensure that any further diagnostic scans are performed on the same day. We will provide you with a written report and findings available within hours of your consultation.

Our priority is always our patients, and our teams are well equipped and trained to ensure you get the best and safest treatment.

Should we need to expedite your treatment, we can make arrangements to admit patients immediately after a consultation with priority surgery appointments usually offered within the week. This will need to be authorised by your insurance company following your consultation.

Mr D’Urso is partnered with major hospitals such as HCA at the Wilmslow Hospital, Salford Private Care and BMI Alexandra meaning that we have the necessary equipment to offer you with the best possible treatment and care.

It is important for us to ensure that you feel cared for, safe and understood. If you would like any further information please feel free to contact us.
